At Nehru Nursing College, clinical training is an essential component of the nursing curriculum. The college ensures comprehensive hands-on learning through its parent hospital and partnerships with a wide network of multi-specialty hospitals, community health centers, and specialized healthcare institutions. This exposure provides students with real-time experience in patient care, clinical decision-making, and interdisciplinary teamwork—preparing them to confidently handle responsibilities in diverse medical settings.
Parent Hospital – On-Campus Training
- A 100-bed parent hospital is located within the college campus.
- Offers immediate, supervised clinical experience from the first year onward.
- Students gain exposure in general medicine, surgery, emergency care, maternal and child health, and in-patient care.
- The hospital also serves the local rural population, integrating community-oriented care into the learning process.
Clinical Skills Covered
During their rotations, students learn:
- Bedside nursing care
- Medication administration (oral, IV, IM)
- Patient assessment and documentation
- Pre- and post-operative care
- Maternity and neonatal care
- Pediatric and geriatric care
- Emergency management and CPR
- Infection control protocols and waste management
Community Health Clinical Training
In addition to hospital training, students are also posted to:
- Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in Nanguneri
- Urban Health Centre in Melapalayam
These postings offer essential skills in community diagnosis, immunization, maternal and child care, and public health education, equipping students for primary healthcare delivery.
Supervision & Evaluation
- All clinical postings are supervised by qualified faculty and clinical instructors.
- Students are evaluated through clinical logs, case studies, nursing care plans, and bedside viva.
- Feedback is provided to strengthen skills and improve performance.
