Mandatory & Elective Modules

To strengthen core competencies and promote holistic development in nursing education, Nehru Nursing College integrates both mandatory and elective modules into its B.Sc Nursing curriculum, in alignment with the Indian Nursing Council (INC) guidelines. These modules are aimed at enhancing knowledge, skills, attitude, and employability in diverse healthcare settings.

Mandatory Modules

All students are required to complete specific mandatory modules, which are delivered through structured learning resource packages, simulations, and practical demonstrations.

Core Mandatory Modules Include
Health Assessment
  • Comprehensive evaluation of patient health using clinical tools and nursing judgment
  • First Aid (as per NDMA guidelines)
    • Emergency management procedures in trauma and disaster situations
    • IMNCI (Integrated Management of Neonatal and Childhood Illnesses)
    • ENBC (Essential Newborn Care)
    • FBNBC (Facility-Based Newborn Care)
    • SBA Module (Skilled Birth Attendant Training)
    • National Health Program Protocols
  • Covers communicable and non-communicable disease strategies, vaccination protocols, and screening methods
Advanced Life Support Modules
  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support
  • ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • PLS/PALS – Pediatric Life Support / Pediatric Advanced Life Support

(Standard national/international training materials will be used)

Elective Modules

To allow academic flexibility and cater to student interests, B.Sc Nursing students must complete four (4) elective modules, each offering 1 credit (20 hours). These are distributed across semesters for effective skill-building.

I to IV Semesters

(Students must complete any two electives by the end of the 4th semester)

VII to VIII Semesters

We recognize that our nursing programs must cultivate specialized knowledge, clinical skills, and ethical attitudes essential to professional nursing responsibilities.

(Students must complete one elective before the end of 8th semester)

Assessment & Credits

  • Each module will have clearly defined learning objectives, assessment methods, and practical applications.
  • Completion of these modules contributes to the overall academic and professional preparedness of the students.
  • Performance will be evaluated through assignments, simulations, and viva or internal assessments.
