B.Sc Nursing – Course Duration and Structure
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc Nursing) is a 4-year full-time undergraduate program, divided into 8 semesters, following the curriculum prescribed by The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University and approved by the Indian Nursing Council (INC).
Semester Breakdown (1st to 7th Semester)
- Duration per Semester: 26 weeks
- Instructional Weeks: 20 weeks (5 days/week)
- Contact Hours: 40 hours/week × 20 weeks = 800 hours/semester
- Working Days: Minimum 100 days per semester
- Break-up of Remaining 6 Weeks:
- Vacation: 3 weeks
- Holidays: 1 week
- Preparatory & Examination: 2 weeks
8th Semester
- Total Duration: 22 weeks
- Vacation: 1 week
- Holidays: 1 week

Attendance Requirements
- Minimum 90% attendance in theory classes
- 100% attendance in practical/clinical training is mandatory

M.Sc Nursing – Course Duration and Structure
The Master of Science in Nursing (M.Sc Nursing) is a 2-year full-time postgraduate program offered in five specializations. The structure adheres to the guidelines of INC and Dr. M.G.R. Medical University.
Program Overview
- Duration: 2 academic years
- Working Days: Minimum 300 working days per year
- Theory Attendance: Minimum 80%
- Practical Attendance: 100% compulsory
- Dissertation: Submission is mandatory in the 2nd year
Examination Attempts
- A candidate is allowed a maximum of 3 attempts (including the first appearance) per paper.
- The maximum permissible duration to complete the program is 4 years.
