Community Health

Nehru Nursing College places a strong emphasis on community-oriented nursing education, recognizing that holistic healthcare extends beyond hospital walls. As part of the B.Sc Nursing curriculum, students are actively engaged in community health training and rural outreach, in line with Indian Nursing Council (INC) and Dr. M.G.R. Medical University requirements.

Adopted Villages Program

The college has adopted several villages surrounding Vallioor as part of its rural health outreach initiative. The following villages where adopted by Nehru Nursing College vallioor, kadambankulum, rosemiyapurum, south vallioor, thirumalapurum, soundarapandi purum, aanaikulum, thulukkar patti, siyonmalai, pandarakulum, KK kudiruppu, makilchipurum, valliyammalpurum, we have our own centre “Mother Theresa” at kadambankulum there we are conducting frequently medical camp & well baby show activities This allows students to:

  • Conduct health surveys and household assessments
  • Provide health education, especially on maternal and child health, hygiene, and disease prevention
  • Perform basic clinical procedures and screening activities
  • Promote immunization awareness, nutrition practices, and chronic disease management

Through this rural exposure, students gain an understanding of local health determinants, environmental factors, and socio-economic challenges influencing healthcare delivery.

Primary Health Center (PHC) Postings

To provide structured clinical training in real-world settings, students are assigned to Primary Health Centers (PHCs) and Urban Health Centers, which are key pillars of India’s public health system.

  • Assisting in antenatal and postnatal clinics

  • Collaborating with multipurpose health workers, ASHA workers, and ANMs

Community Health Nursing training empowers students to:
