B.Sc Nursing – Eligibility

To ensure the highest standards of nursing education and to meet regulatory requirements, the eligibility criteria for admission into the B.Sc Nursing program at Nehru Nursing College are as follows:

  • Gender: Only female candidates are eligible for admission.
  • Minimum Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as core subjects.
  • Minimum Marks: A minimum of 45% aggregate marks in the above subjects is required. For candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC categories, the minimum qualifying mark is 40%.
  • Age Criteria:
    • Minimum age: 17 years (on or before 31st December of the year of admission)
    • Maximum age: 35 years
    • Medical Fitness: Candidates must be medically fit, supported by a certified medical fitness report.
  • Reservation Criteria: Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped (PH)/EWS candidates is as per the Government of Tamil Nadu norms and Indian Nursing Council (INC) guidelines.
  • Special Considerations:
    • 5% Disability reservation is applicable for candidates with loco-motor disability between 40% to 50% of the lower extremity.
    • Colour blind candidates are eligible provided they wear corrective lenses or spectacles.
    • Foreign Nationals must obtain equivalency of 12th standard qualifications from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi. The respective State Nursing Council and University will verify eligibility compliance based on INC norms.

M.Sc Nursing – Eligibility

The Master of Science in Nursing (M.Sc Nursing) program is open to candidates who meet the following eligibility criteria:

Educational Qualification
  • B.Sc Nursing / B.Sc (Hons) Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc Nursing from an institution recognized by the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and affiliated to a recognized university.
Minimum Marks
  • A minimum of 55% aggregate marks is required in the qualifying degree.
  • A 5% relaxation in marks may be granted to SC/ST candidates.
Registration
  • The candidate must be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife with any State Nursing Council.
Work Experience
  • A minimum of one year of work experience either prior to or after the completion of Post Basic B.Sc Nursing is mandatory.
Medical Fitness
  • Candidates must be declared medically fit to pursue the course.
